 September 7 Tuesday

First period was engaged by Ancy ma'am. We discussed about evolution of education in Kerala. It was a discussion session by malayalam optional. The major points discussed were,

Gurukula system, christian missionaries in 19 th century, origin of pallikkoodam, schools and ladies hostel in 20 th century, importance of education, introduction of western education, charter act, maquelle minutes, wood's despatch and wardha scheme, division of education system, and boards of education.

The next period was by Giby ma'am. Today we studied about theories of forgetting.

Theories of forgetting

Trace- decay theory : here due to passage of time memory traces decay.

Theory of inhibition or interference : according to this theory there are two types of inhibition. proactive inhibition and retroactive inhibition. proactive inhibition means earlier learning interfere with later learning and inhibits recall of new material. Retroactive inhibition means inhibition of the earlier learning and recall by later learning.

Motivated forgetting theory

Retrieval failure theory : it refers to when we forget because we lack or fail to use the right cues or prompts to retrieve what is stored in our memory. it is referred to us cue- dependent forgetting and is a useful explanation of why sometimes  we fail to retrieve information when we are sure we know the information.

The Ebbinghaus forgetting curve.

The next period was engaged by George sir. We studied track marking. It was really interesting. I am drawing some pictures with compus after a long time. I enjoyed it. Sir explained everything in detail.
